First Priority to Teachers with Disabilities |Tamil Nadu G.O released

After protests were announced by the disability rights activists over priority allotment at government teachers’ counselling sessions, the government held talks with the activists recently.

Following the talks, the government issued a new Government Order in which priority has been accorded to teachers with disabilities, said a press statement from the Tamil Nadu Association for the Rights of All Types of Differently Abled & Caregivers.

According to the release, the new G.O. has now accorded first priority for persons with complete visual impairment, the fourth priority for teachers with 50% and more loco motor disabilities and the seventh for teachers with disabilities less than 50%. Before the government order, teachers with disabilities were at the sixth priority position.
