Finally the Jio effect is in the market. As Reliance rolled out the Happy New Year offer for Jio users, again offering them free data and calls until March 31, the existing telecom operators are getting serious about the competition…
Jio had last week announced the new offer which was basically an update to its existing Welcome offer and it gives free unlimited data, voice calls and messages to all Jio users until March 1, 2017.
The announcement has pushed its rivals to pull up its socks and update their existing plans offers. Companies like Airtel, Vodafone and Idea have released slew of plans and bundled packages to woo the subscribers. Here are the new plans offered by the these companies to match up with Jio’s Happy New Year offer.
Airtel: Country’s biggest telecom network Airtel has announced two new bundled packs for its prepaid customers with free voice calling with addition of data benefits. The first pack costs Rs 145 and offers 300 MB data with 4G enabled smartphones. User also gets free Airtel-to-Airtel calls, both local and STD. Those using non-4G handsets will get 50 MB data benefit in addition to free Airtel-to-Airtel calls across India.
The second pack is priced at Rs 345 and provides 1GB data with 4G enabled smartphones. User will also get free local and STD calls on any network in India. Those with non-4G handsets will get 50 MB data in addition to free calls to any network across India. Both the packs come with a validity of 28 days.
Vodafone: The company on Thursday announced that it will now offer double 4G data for all plans that cost more than Rs 255. In short company has halved the price for 4G data. With the new offer Vodafone customers will get 2GB of 4G data for Rs 255 against the earlier usage of only 1GB offer. Similarly, Rs 459 plan will offer 6 GB of 4G data, Rs 559 plan 8GB, Rs 999 plan 20 GB and Rs 1999 plan 40 GB. The plans have a validity of 28 day. This is arguably the best counter a telecom company has offered against Jio until now.
Idea: Following in the footprints of its competitors, Idea too is trying hard to match up with Reliance Jio. The company on Friday announced two new monthly call plans for the users. The two packs are priced at Rs 148 and Rs 348.
