Edappadi K. Palaniswami was born on 2nd March, 1954 in a village called Andhiyur. His father nae is V Karuppa Gounder of Gounder caste. K. Palaniswami is married and has one child. Before starting his political carreer he was doing agriculture. He is presently serving as Minister for Highways & Minor Ports in the Government of Tamil Nadu, and is the sitting Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Edapadi in the Salem district, Tamil Nadu legislative assembly.

Political Career Edappadi K. Palaniswami
He joined All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam during the year 1980 as a member. He was one of the person who supported Jayalalitha when she started AIADMK after the death of M.G.R
Palanisamy has won the election to the state assembly four times, in 1989, 1991, 2011 and 2016. Currently serving as Minister for Highways & Minor Ports in the Government of Tamil Nadu.

While O. Panneerselvam split out from ADMK and V.K. Sasikala sentenced to go jail in February 2017, He was elected as Leader of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK). Also expected to cahrge as New Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.
